No fewer than 8,000 graduates participated in the aptitude test for the 250 Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) jobs on Saturday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Managing Director of the agency, Mr Denis Oloriegbe, personally supervised the test that lasted for 45 minutes.
NAN also reports that the test was conducted in batches, because of the large turnout of applicants.
It would be recalled that the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Osarodion Ogie, had said that only 250 vacancies were available in the agency.
Ogie had attributed the high number of applicants for the few available vacancies in that agency to the reform carried out by Gov. Godwin Obaseki-led administration.
Speaking on the aptitude test, Oloriegbe said the selection process would be transparent, as only qualified applicants would be engaged as part of the process to build a world class traffic agency.
The agency, which was established by an Act of the State House of Assembly, started operation with about 300 workforce in September 2017.
As part of the reform, Oloriegbe, who was a staff of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), was recruited to midwife the agency.
