World Cup-bound Super Eagles will meet President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on May 29.
May 29, being Democracy Day in Nigeria, the Eagles will be using the D-day to get the presidential royal blessing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
As gathered, the squad led by Coach Gernot Rohr will fly to Abuja after a scheduled friendly with DR Congo in Port Harcourt on May 28, – a day before the Democracy day – for the presidential visit.
According Rohr, the senior men national football team plans to open World Cup performance and final selection training camp on May 22, in Uyo before the May 28, DR Congo warm-up.
The German tactician added that two days after the Democracy Day Eagles will fly out to London for a high-profile World Cup warm-up against England on June 2.
Rohr, who is expected to announce his final 23-man squad for the World Cup not later than June 4, also hinted that his boys would face Czech Republic in a final test game on June 6 in Austria.
Rohr further explained that Nigeria will depart for Russia- venue for the World Cup- on June 11, five days before their opening Group D match against Croatia.
“NFF have made provision for seamless logistics for the team all support officials including the assistant technical handlers and we would all be meeting with the Mr. President for his words for the national team,” Rohr said.
The DRC teams are due in Port Harcourt on May 25 and will be screened for Ebola epidemic before the Eagles friendly.
