Nigerians hope of receiving President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday from his long vacation has been dashed as the president extended his stay in the United Kingdom.
Buhari, who left the country a fortnight ago, was not only expected back in the country today and to resume duties on Monday 6th of February, 2017 but all that will not be again.
A statement by the Special Adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, said the President has written to the National Assembly for extension of his vacation.
The statement did not indicate how many days extension President Buhari requested for.
The statement issued on Sunday reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly today, February 5, 2017, informing of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.
“The President had planned to return to Abuja this evening, but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning. The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives.
“Mr. President expresses his sincere gratitude to Nigerians for their concern, prayers and kind wishes.” it stated
