The 2017 Confederations Cup is just 100 days away and the trophy which Portugal, Russia, Germany, Cameroon, New Zealand, Mexico, Chile and Australia will be competing for was presented to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Portugal’s captain will lead his side out against Mexico in Kazan for their first match of the World Cup dress rehearsal tournament on June 18 and will hope to be celebrating at the end of the July 2 final.
Although the Real Madrid ace was impressed by the trophy, he refused to touch it without having earned on the pitch the right to do so.
“I never touch the trophies because it brings bad luck,” he explained in the video filmed with FIFA TV.
“I’d like to win it, as it’s a dream.
“But there remains a lot of work to do.
“I hope Portugal have the good fortune to win this trophy for the first time in its history.”
The Selecao das Quinas qualified for the competition as a result of their Euro 2016 triumph.
