OLX, TechCabal hold Developers masterclass

Nigeria’s leading online classifieds site, OLX.com.ng has partnered with TechCabal.com to develop masterclass product for developers.

The Nigeria’s largest tech blog gave a product masterclass to developers themed “Building products that will be useful to people”.

The masterclass helped develop the local tech community by providingopportunitiesto learn and networkwith experts in the tech industry globally.

Speakers at the event were Stephen Ballot, Chief Technology Officer, OLX SSA; Stephen van der Heijden, Product Owner, OLX SSA, KeneUdeze, User Experience Lead, Co-Creation Hub, Ire Aderinokun, Design and Product Lead, Big Cabal Media and OoNwoye, Co-Founder, Fonebase Labs sharing insights on the importance of user experience when building a product.

Addressing the media at the masterclass, Stephen Ballot, CTO, SSA, OLX stated that “At OLX we optimize our product to suit local market needs, by developing unique products for each market like Do It For Me (D.I.F.M) for Nigeria.

Also commenting on the partnership, BankoleOluwafemi, Editor-in-Chief TechCabal.com; stated that “There are lots of talented developers in Lagos. However, the practice of user experience design is still very nascent. Creating products that will achieve traction, locally and globally goes beyond technical proficiency, but especially requires paying attention to user experience.

Olufemi also added that “there aren’t enough local resources to help creators learn about this fundamental aspect of product design, so we were happy to work with OLX and a panel of design experts to bring this masterclass to the community”.
