comedyPopular Nigeria’s stand-up comedian,“Gandoki’’, hope to make the Guinness Book of Records with the longest stand-up comedy performance by an individual.

In history the longest stand-up comedy show by an individual last for 40 hours and 8 minutes. It was performed by The Midnight Swinger aka David Scott (USA) at the Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque, Iowa, USA, on 29-30 April 2013.

BUt, Gandoki says the recording can be surpassed. He attempt to break that record by hosting fans, brand executives and industry colleagues to a 48 hour non-stop comedy performance on Thursday September 29 and climax on Saturday 1at the Exclusive Mansions Hotel, Opposite Landmark Event Centre, Water Corporation off Ligali Ayorinde Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Speaking with the media, the ace comedian said he has all it takes to set a new record with about 600 topics to talk about during his performance.

He further explained that he wants to put Nigeria on the world record again. He said,  “I’m doing this just to showcase Nigerians to the World that we are happy people. Also I’m doing it for my Niger Delta brothers that we still have talents. I have over 600 topics to talk about. Pastors do more than four hours at a time.

Though passion is not enough and physical strength is also important. So right now I’m going through some physical training and also strengthen myself on how to deal with my sleep. If you stay awake for that long, it will start itching you and I’ve tried that before. So I’m working towards it and I want the whole world to support me.”

Dayo Hamzat, a representative of Zedvance Limited, the official partner of the event, said the show would take place in front of a live audience.

“The entire performance would also be recorded and streamed live online while arrangements are also being made for full media coverage of the event on both terrestrial and cable TV”, Hamzat said.

This  event  is  arguably  the  biggest  and  most  anticipated  event  in  the  month  of September,  the  tension,  doubts,  beliefs  around  it  provides  for  excellent engagement of the audience as the world looks on to see if we can pull this off. We are really looking forward to people joining us to make History, as we show the world that Nigerians are indeed immensely gifted,” Hamzat said.
