NIGERIA – Momentum are gathering for a massive protest against President Muhammadu Buhari’s lockdown order on Lagos State and Federal Capital Abuja, this, NewswatchNigeria can report.
From Lagos- the commercial nerve of Nigeria – there are reactions that the “No movement for 14-day ” order by the President comes with unbearable hardship.
As at Tuesday afternoon some youths from neighbourhoods in the state threatened to retreat the stay-home order with massive protest.
A video surface online were some of the youth bitterly engaged state government officials who were enforcing the stay at home order.
The position of the youth may not in anyway different from those of the elders in the hood – though they were less agitating but it was apparent that they were not sure if the president’s order was thought through as the situation they said helping the unfortunate fate of abject poverty of their daily lives
In the online post, if what the youths echoed was anything to go by – the protest may hit the street sooner than anyone may have ordinarily envisaged.
According to the youths, the unfortunate situation was as bad as; no light, no food, no water, heat and no money. They stated that they and would need government intervention on the ugly situation for them to be able to stay back at home.
From Abuja the residents general feelings on the 14-day lockdown have been greeted with mixed reactions since on Monday after the president’s address.
Majorly, the residents refuted hardship but would like to comply. They also lamented that hunger kills more than coronavirus and would want swift intervention to avert a possible protest.
However, they shared the understanding that to stay at home, and washing of hands, keeping social distancing and good hygiene should not be overruled as part of measure to reduce the risk of getting contracted with the pandemic outbreak.
