Chamber of Commerce Begins ICTEL Expo in Lagos

An Information Communication, Technology and Telecommunications Exhibition and Conference (ICTEL EXPO 2017) will be declared open today in Lagos.

Founder, Chams Group Plc and Chairman, SmartCity Resorts Plc, Sir Demola Aladekomo, will lead the array of panellists at the three-day annual forum discussing theme; The Digital Economy: Strategies for Growth in A Connected World” :

Organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the exhibition is expected to attract major leaders and stakeholders in the technology sector from within and outside Nigeria for the deliberations on issues concerning the Information Communication and Technology industry and explore the best options for the Nigerian ICT sector

As gathered the exhibition It will also serve as business and trade platform for existing and start-ups players in the industry with a view to expand their business frontiers and gain prospective international clienteles.

Other speakers confirmed at the event include Lanre Kolade, Managing Director, Vodacom Business Nigeria; Akin Ogunsola, Cloud Solutions Architect, MDX-i Cloud; Magnus Nmonwu, Country Manager, Sage Software Nigeria Limited; Mr. Damola Solanke, Cloud Infrastructure Lead, Microsoft Nigeria; Wale Onawunmi, Executive Director, Technology, AppZone; and Walter Akpani, a seasoned banker.

Also speaking at the exhibition are Mrs. Juliet Anammah, Chief Executive Officer, Jumia Nigeria Limited; Bankole Oloruntoba, Founder, Network of Incubators and Innovators in Nigeria; Adesimbo Ukiri, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Avon Healthcare Limited; Fidelis Isiekwene, Regional Director, Sage Enterprise West Africa; and Funke Opeke, is founder and CEO of Main One.

Regarded as one of pacesetters of the ICT industry in Nigeria, Sir Aladekomo is a business icon of immense status. He graduated from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) with a degree in Computer Engineering. He also holds an MBA in Operations Research from the University of Lagos, which he passed with a distinction.

Aladekomo established Chams Plc immediately after his MBA programme in 1985 as a privately owned company, with the company dealing with Computer and Hardware Maintenance Service. Under his leadership, Chams Plc successfully migrated to the developing enterprise technology solutions, initiating several ground-breaking accomplishments in the information identity and management sub-sector of the ICT industry.

As head of Chams Plc and its subsidiaries, Aladekomo led the successful implementation and execution of several transformative public and private sector led projects of national importance in various sectors of the economy in the country including pioneering the first wide-area-network on private computers in Nigeria, the brain behind ValuCard, the first e-payment card in Nigeria, and establishing ChamsCity, the largest digital mall globally with over 1,000 PCs in a single location- an innovation duly certified by global historian recorders, the Guinness Book of Records.

He also led the company’s involvement in the Banker’s Committee and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)-led initiative called the Know-Your-Customer (KYC) project- the Bank Verification Number (BVN), the National ID card project, e-governance and residents’ identification projects with the governments of Lagos, Anambra, and Osun, among others.

After 30 years of meritorious service, Aladekomo voluntary retired as the Managing Director of Chams Plc, a company which he founded.

He is now the Chairman of SmartCity Resorts Plc, an investment and infrastructure company dedicated to creating modern real estate and infrastructure projects that allows people to live, work and relax in a more congenial and industrious way.
