Super Eagles Skipper Mikel Obi on Wednesday sent a best wishes message to the Team Nigeria for the Commonwealth Games which started Wednesday in Australia.
The 21st Commonwealth games will see athletes participate across 19 sports which include, Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach volleyball, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lawn bowls, Netball, Rugby sevens, Shooting Squash, Table tennis, Triathlon, Weightlifting, Wrestling
The 19 sports have a total of 275 events combined in which winners will emerge from.
Nigeria would however be taking active participation in nine indoor and outdoor games which include; Weightlifting, Wrestling, Boxing, Special Sports, Table Tennis, Gymnastics and Basketball.
In the spirit of patriotism the international football from his China base wrote send his message on twitter; he wrote; “Wishing the best of luck to Team Nigeria at Gold Coast2018 Commonwealth Games. I’ll be supporting you from here in China.”
Mikel was not available for the last two national assignments for the Super Eagles.
But it was confirmed that her has kept in touch with the team officials and player as they get prepared for the June 2018 FIFA World cup in Russia.
All the 2018 Commonwealth Games events will take place in Gold Coast city, events such as shooting, cycling and the group stages of basketball will take place outside the city.
