Cristiano Ronaldo Not Worried about 5-Match Ban

  • Madrid to Appeal

CRISTIANO Ronaldo has posted a defiant message on Instagram as he was banned for five games for pushing the referee.

The Portuguese star stunned the world after shoving ref Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea in the back last night after being sent off.

He has been slapped with a five-game suspension after the incident in yesterday’s Supercopa de Espana meeting with Barcelona.

But he isn’t worried about the backlash judging by his Instagram page.

The forward posted the lighthearted pic of him posing in training with his teammates.

Ronaldo has a big smile on his face.

He captioned the brazen snap: “Great session this morning!!!! Winning team.”

Ronaldo was given a yellow card for taking his shirt off after scoring in the 3-1 first-leg win at the Nou Camp last night. Then he was shown a second yellow card in the 82nd minute for diving. He then shocked the crowd by pushing the ref before making his way off the pitch.

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) has now handed the 32-year-old a five-match ban – one for the double booking and another four for pushing the official.

Ronaldo has also been fined 3,805 euros (£3,459) for the two sanctions, with Real Madrid fined 1,750 euros (£1,590).

He will now miss the second leg of the Supercopa against Barca at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night, as well as Real’s opening four La Liga matches.
