NFF Pockets $700,000, Silent on Eagles Appearance Fee

NewswatchNigeria can report that six days after the London friendly with Senegal, the Nigeria Football federation (NFF) are yet to pay any appearance fee to the Super Eagles player with claims that the federation is broke.

NewswatchNigeria can also report that in recent week, the “BROKE” NFF has received in excess of $700,000 from government, FIFA, CAF and sponsors.

Each Super Eagles player is entitled to $2,000 match bonus for the friendly match played in Liondon.

It would be recalled that the NFF are yet to pay the players match bonus for the away win against Zambia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier played in Ndola in October.

And for thata match, each player is entitled to $5,000 for the win in Zambia.

It took a special government intervention fund for the NFF to pay the match bonuses for an AFCON 2015 win over Tanzania as well the World Cup qualifier win against Algeria in Uyo in November.

And the players were paid in Naira with complaints over the exchange rate used to pay them.

The players have also not received any appearance fee for the friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg earlier this year.

All these findings come at a time the NFF have received various monies from government, FIFA, CAF and sponsors.

Sources confirmed that in the last few weeks, the NFF has taken receipt of the various sums –$500,000 from CAF for AFCON TV rights, $200,000 from FIFA, N145 million from sponsors Guinness and N70 million from government’s allocation for February.
