Chelsea 1-1 Leicester: How Ndidi Spoiled Chelsea’s Party @ Stamford Bridge

SUMMARY

  • Full Time: Chelsea 1-1 Leicester
  • Ndidi levels with header (67)
  • Mount nets on home debut (7)

Wilfred Ndidi could not wait to redeem himself after his mistake allowed Chelsea to score inside seven minutes.

It was another great set-piece delivery from Maddison and Ndidi rises high to power a header past Kepa to redeem himself.

After the goal on the 67th minutes Gerard Brand at Stamford Bridge described the Nigeria international’s goal as similar to Cristiano Ronaldo’s best header.

He said, “Wow, what a header from Ndidi, Similar to Ronaldo’s… but WHAT a chance for Maddison. Leicester look far more likely to win this game now.

“The whole Leicester bench went up when Ndidi scored, and they all collectively curled up when Maddison struck that effort over.

“Huge final 20 minutes.”

Ndidi’s error gave Chelsea the lead very early into the first half of the match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides should have scored more and it was an entertaining encounter, but the wait goes on for Frank Lampard’s first win as Chelsea manager.

How Ndidi Caused Chelsea’s Goal

Schmeichel plays the ball to Evans, who in turn picks out Ndidi just outside the area. There doesn’t look to be any pressure on the midfielder but Mount bursts forward, sensing an opportunity.

He has one too, muscling Ndidi off the ball and despite losing his balance, does brilliantly well to get himself stable before slotting home past a scrambling Schmeichel.

The Leicester goalkeeper was caught off-guard and Chelsea were ruthless. What a start.
