One of the latest job appointments in the tech-driven sector of Nigeria made headlines which the media casted with the name of a young man appointed by an American ride-hailing company, Uber Technologies as its New Country Manager.
Recall that media reports were published during the week just after Uber officially announced Tope Akinwumi as its new Country Manager for Nigeria.
The appointment was first made known by a Public Relation and Strategic Communication out based in South Africa through a media statement. The statement which captured Akinwunmi exploits in the tech industry indicated that Akinwumi was an award-winning consultant with several years of professional experience advising multinational companies on complex and challenging situations to accelerate growth and create efficiency.
Who is this new boss in town?
Newswatch Nigeria can report that Akinwumi joins Uber from Kobo360, where he was the Head of Marketplace & Analytics. And Before then, Akinwumi was the Assistant Manager in the Disruptive Innovation and Emerging Technology sector at PwC Nigeria.

In his new role at Uber, Akinwumi manages all the operational functions of the Nigeria business, with a focus on growth, policy engagement as well as community engagement.

I also look forward to advocating for our vision for urban mobility and striking strategic partnerships”, Akinwunmi added.
Akinwumi attended Federal University of Technology, Akure, where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering. In his free time, He enjoys reading and playing guitar.
