Life Continental Lager Beer has kicked off the 2018 edition of its signatory Highlife music festival and competition, the Hi-Life Fest in Aba.
Themed “The Complete Experience,” the event held at the Eldorado hotel and lounge Aba, Abia State and had a high profile attendance including Highlife maestro himself, Bright Chimezie, Afro Hip Pop star, Flavour, the winner Hi-Life Fest 2017, Chibest David, musicians, notable personalities, members of the press, and lovers of Highlife music.
Highlife music holds a revered place in Igbo music culture, offering a window to the lifestyle, beliefs and uniqueness of the Igbo people while all along producing greats who have expanded the frontiers of the music genre to the ends of the world. Some of the greatest Highlife musicians include Celestine Ukwu, Bright Chimezie, Oliver De Coque, Dr Sir Warrior, Prince Nico Mbarga, Flavour N’abania, and Phyno among others.
As a brand solely created for and loved by the beautiful people of South Eastern Nigeria, Life Continental lager beer created the Hi-Life Fest as a platform to preserve and sustain Highlife music culture in Igboland by creating opportunities for the next generation of Highlife musicians while delighting consumers who are some of the biggest Highlife music fans in the world.

Obiora Ikechukwu, one of the contestants, emerged winner in Aba after dazzling everyone present and winning the hearts of the judges with his scintillating highlife performance. While the first runner up position was snatched by Onuoha Philip. The two winners will now progress to the quarter-final stage where they will slug it out against winners from other cities – Port Harcourt, Asaba, Onitsha, Enugu, Owerri, Abakaliki
The overall winner in the HiLife Fest in the two categories will go home with N2m each while 1st and 2nd runner-ups will get N1m and N750, 000 respectively.
Golibe crooner, Flavour Nabania rounded off the event with an exciting performance in a befitting end to a fun-filled day of superb highlife music and dance. The next Regional Final holds in Port Harcourt on March 25, 2018
