Lagos Lauds OLX on Innovations, Job Creation

Lagos State Government has reckoned that E-commerce is an added value that could address the society challenge of unemployment and unemployment menace in the country’

Lagos State Commissioner for Science & Technology, Olufemi Odubiyi, has however commended OLX Nigeria for making innovations in the classified ad sub-sector of the e-commerce space with great societal impact and economic lifting..

The commissioner made the remark as the number online classified, OLX.com.ng, commissioned a new head office in Ilupeju-axis of the state as part of activities to mark four years in business in the country.

“OLX is making great impact in the state commerce industry, especially online and as well offering employment opportunities to youths and other direct job through its online innovative services that bridge the gap between buyers and sellers,” he said.

Speaking to the media at the anniversary celebration, Lola Masha, country manager (OLX), stated that “we have come a long way from when we started and have grown both in staff size and users with over a million sellers on the platform”.

Masha also added that “Although we are excited that we are still number one in the country we are not resting on our oars. We are constantly innovating our product to meet our users’ needs. Recently, we launched “Do It For Me” (D.I.F.M.) a premium service where verified OLX Champs who are sales experts manage the posting, negotiating, buying and selling of items on the site. D.I.F.M is convenient, will keep our users safe and help buyers and sellers’ close deals quickly”.

Congratulating the team on four successful years, through Mr. Adeyinka Sorungbe, assistant director, ICT, Mr. Olufemi Odubiyi, Lagos State Commissioner for Science & Technology, commended OLX Nigeria for its tenacity in weathering the storm and playing a frontline role in creating jobs for our youths and using technology to help Lagosians buy and sell conveniently”.
