Lagos State Government has captured over 10,000 worship centers into the State’s data base.
The State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, stated this ahead of the Special Jumat and Sunday Service slated for May 19 and 21st in commemoration of Lagos State at 50, where he urged residents to continue to pray for the success of the state.
He said the data of the churches and mosque enumerated have been inputted into the state website and can easily be accessed by the public.
He said it was necessary for Christian and Muslim to pray for continuous religious tolerance and harmony, while commending the state chapter of Nigerian Inter-Religious Council, Lagos Chapter (NIREC), for their contribution towards harmonious relationship and peaceful co-existence among residents.
The governor expressed his resolve to involve public initiative in state’s policies and programmes and stressed the need for more collaboration between the State and religious bodies.
Governor Ambode said Lagos is home to many irrespective of their ethnic or religious affiliation, adding that it was important for all hands to be on deck in order to realise the objectives of the state.
He said a lot has been achieved in the State in the last 50 years, noting that all this where possible because of the foresight of the past leaders as well as the peaceful coexistence experienced in the state.
