SUMMARY

  • The harsh reality of Premier League management hits Frank Lampard.

  • A dream start to the season for Manchester United and their boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, on the other hand.

  • Goals from Marcus Rashford (2), Anthony Martial and debutant substitute Daniel James give United an emphatic win.

  • Chelsea twice hit the woodwork before half-time

Video Assistant Referee saved Tammy Abraham’ from being booked off the pitch in the Manchester United old trafford match against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

In the course of the match Old Trafford fans called for a Video Assistant Referee review for a potential red card, after the 21-year-old bring down McTominay. But, then it’s quickly confirmed it’s just a yellow.

On the overall fans appeared not too impressive and adjudged Abraham’s performance below average despite hitting woodwork for Chelsea long before he was substituted in the 66th minutes.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard feels Vhelsea should not be judged from their first match of the season. He said,  “It was nowhere near a 4-0. Four mistakes for the goals, but we controlled major parts of the first half. We hit the woodwork, poor decisions in the final third, we should be in the lead at half-time.

“They are a counter-attacking team, it’s a big strength, they have pace, and if you give them opportunities they will counter. For massive parts of the game we didn’t allow them to do that. Loads of lessons for us.

“We are missing internationals and big players but I don’t want to make excuses. The team we put out today was clearly competing in the game for long periods but we made four mistakes and they were clinical in the way they put them away.”
