Lionel Messi found a solution to a problem with noisy neighbours – by buying them out of their house, according to his Barcelona team-mate Ivan Rakitic.
Messi, 29, lives in the plush Castelldefels area of Barcelona with his young family but expanded his local property portfolio after disturbances from next door.
The Argentina forward was revealed to have bought out his neighbours in Spanish media reports four years ago – and Rakitic has now confirmed the move was at least in part due to an issue with noise complaints.
When he bought his house in Castelldefels his neighbours were a little noisy,’ Rakitic told Croatian outlet Novi List.
‘Leo had to buy their house so that he could be alone. Luckily I have never such problems.’
Diariogol reported that Messi’s former neighbours had been renting out some of their rooms resulting in regular new tenants playing loud music and behaving rudely.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner and and partner Antonella Roccuzzo have two sons together: Thiago, four, and one-year-old Mateo.
Messi played the full 90 minutes of Tuesday night’s bad-tempered Copa del Rey semi-final second leg draw with Atletico Madrid at the Nou Camp.
A 1-1 stalemate was enough to give Barca a passage to the final, having won the away leg 2-1 in the capital.
Messi was toeing the line of a potential suspension that would have meant he could have missed the showpiece occasion with a yellow card, but he was not cautioned on the night.
