An advertising mogul, Mr Biodun Shobanjo, has urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to invest in the country to uplift its economy and improve the people’s standard of living.

Shobanjo, the Chairman of Troyka Holdings Ltd., made the call at the recent Nigerian-American Business Forum held in Florida, U.S., according to a statement he issued on Thursday in Lagos.

The forum is an international networking event for Nigerians in the U.S., designed to chart a way for Nigeria’s development through the wealth of experiences of accomplished Nigerians in the Diaspora.

Shobanjo, who expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, identified the widening infrastructure gaps as an opportunity for Nigerians in the Diaspora to invest for rapid development.

As an entrepreneur, the chairman said there was need for those in the Diaspora to network with people who have experience within and outside the country in carrying out the project.

“It is possible to make it in Nigeria. The work we are doing with Troyka Holdings and its unit companies over the past three decades is testament to the fact that investing in Nigeria can be a wise decision,’’ he said in the statement.

Shobanjo noted that every successful business was driven by the quality of people behind it.

He cited an example with his organisation which, he said, had grown from an 18-man team in 1980 to 18,000 direct employees now, making it the largest marketing and communications group in West Africa.
