The Nigeria Police Force has denied involvement in the blockade of the National Assembly (NASS) complex.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the operatives of the Department of State Services ( DSS) on Tuesday blocked the entrance of the NASS complex preventing lawmakers and staff access to the complex.
A statement by the Force Spokesman, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood on Tuesday in Abuja, said the force was not informed and has no pre-knowledge of the blockade.
“The force wishes to categorically state that its personnel were not involved in any way whatsoever in the blockade of the National Assembly in the early hours of Tuesday, August 7.
“The Nigeria police force hereby implores the Media and the general Public to disregard in entirety insinuations that police personnel were involved in the blockade as untrue, misleading and a misinformation,” he said.
Moshood said the force will continue to ensure that the rule of law prevails, sustain the unflinching respect, support and protection of all constituent authorities and democratic institutions in the Country.
NAN also report that the Director-General of the DSS, Mr Lawan Daura was sacked and replaced by Matthew Seiyefa by the acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo following the blockade.
