The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says 90 per cent of corps members deployed to Katsina State have been posted to teach in schools.
The State NYSC Coordinator, Hajiya Ramatu Sanda, disclosed this during the closing ceremony of the 2018 Batch B orientation course for NYSC deployed to the state.
She said the measure was part of effort to support the state government to the education sector in the state.
‘’Your Excellency Sir, the NYSC management in the state is mindful of the focus of your administration, which is education, the second one is education, the third one is education.
‘’The emphasis which you placed on education has necessitated the posting of about 90 per cent of the 2018 Batch B corps members to schools located in all communities including the hinterland,’’ she said.
Sanda urged the corps members to exhibit positive attitude to their employers at the places of their primary assignments.
‘’There is no doubt in my mind that if you exhibit positive attitude to your employers, they will go to any length to make you comfortable throughout the service year,’’ she said.
She urged the corps members to intensify efforts toward contributing positively to the development of their host communities.
‘’I urge you to move to host communities, settle down quickly and identify one or two things you feel is the need of the community, articulate and execute them,’’ she said.
In his remarks, Gov Aminu Masari, represented by his Special Adviser on Youth Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Khalil, assured the corps members that the state government would continue to ensure maximum security to the corps members deployed to the state.
He urged them to be law abiding, dress moderately and shun any form of provocative outfit.
Masari also urged them to respect culture and tradition of their host communities and assimilate with some aspects of the culture of the people.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 2, 076 corps members registered for the orientation course.
