Olympics: Three Nigerian female wrestlers lost out

It was a disappointing day for Nigeria at the olympics games yesterday as three of Nigeria’s female wrestlers crashed out of their respective quarterfinals bout.

Mercy Genesis lost to NIna Matkowska from poland 4-0 in the 48kg category while Hannah Amuchechi lost 11-1 Canadian Dorothy Yeats in the Women’s Freestyle 69 kg quarterfinals.

Aminat Adeniyi lost to Petra Olli from Finland 8-2 in the 58 kg.

Blessing Oborududu will today face Mongolian Battsetseg Soronzonbold in the Women’s Freestyle 63 kg quarterfinal. Soronzonbold got the bronze in women’s 63 kg freestyle at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

2014 Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Odunayo Adekuoroye will face Sofia Mattsson from Sweden in the Women’s Freestyle 53 kg quarterfinal. Odunayo also got a bronze medal at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships.
