Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has commissioned the newly built flyover bridge and slip roads at Abule-Egba area of the state.
The overhead bridge, which was named ‘Jubilee Bridge,’ is expected to “eliminate the traffic jam usually experienced in the axis,” the governor said on Wednesday.
“We have made it a duty to put in place top class infrastructure that will facilitate movement of people, goods and materials,” he added.
Residents of the state who trooped to the area to catch a glimpse of the new bridge expressed delights at the new infrastructure provided by the state government and built by Craneburg construction firm.
Most of them who spoke fell in love with its fanciful slip roads and water fountain.
Femi Benson, a resident of Agege area of the state, said: “I was born in Lagos and I know what I’m seeing here now; it surpassed my expectation.
“Right from Tinubu’s period, they started the gradual development of Lagos. There’s nowhere in Lagos metropolis that you won’t see any development going on.
“We thank the government of Ambode for what he has done and posterity will continue to remember him in history. Other state governments should emulate Lagos in terms of development.”
Another resident of Abule-Egba area, Reverend Joel Olukayode Adeoye, was too delighted with the newly built bridge.
He said: “We thank God for what Governor Ambode has done for us in this community. I, personally, wrote to Senator Adeola Yayi who’s representing us at the Senate to liaise with the state government that we need a flyover at Abule-Egba. Secondly, people who were crossing this road at that time were dying too much in this area. But today, many people are happy for this development because it’s a glory from God.”
They however urged the state government to provide pedestrian bridges close to both ends of the flyover bridge to ease crossing of roads by the residents.
It will be recalled that Governor Ambode earlier today also commissioned another Jubilee Bridge at Ajah area of the state.
