Social Media Week: Emerging Ideas, Trends, Techs, Economy for Discuss

Social Media Week

The annual Social Media Week will hold its sixth edition from February 26 to March 2.

Launched in Nigeria in 2013, Social Media Week is a convergence of Africa’s most innovative minds; thought leaders, entrepreneurs, business leaders, innovators, and pop culture experts.

Themed ‘Closer’, this year’s event would explore the growing conflict between community and individualism.

According to the organisers, “the conversation will bring together a diversity of perspectives to discuss the most productive ways to harness these forces to drive innovation, improve consumer experiences and bring people together”.

SMW Lagos 2018 will focus on ideas, trends, insights, business practices and policy that leverage technology to transform industries and communities across Africa.

In 2017, over 100 local and international organisations contributed to the event.

AfricaNXT, a new initiative, will be launched at SMW Lagos. AfricaNXT is aimed at showcasing the makeres, artists and creatives transforming Africa.

The week-long event would focus on key socio-economic and technology issues like the future of media, governance, music industry, African women in tech, travel and tourism, emerging ideas and trends.
