Usain Bolt Dazzles with Goals on Debut as Professional Footballer (Watch Video))

Usain Bolt has scored his first goals in professional football for Australian side Central Coast Mariners after starting up front in a preseason friendly.

The Jamaican, an eight-time Olympic champion who is the 100 metres record holder, hit a double against Macarthur South West United in Sydney on Friday.

Bolt, 32, is hoping to earn a contract with the A-League club, and did his bid no harm with a sharp left-footed finish after 55 minutes.

He struck the famous “Lightning Bolt” pose in celebration, and then added his second and the Mariners’ fourth on 69 minutes, stroking the ball home from close range after a defensive mix-up.

“My first start and scoring two goals, it’s a good feeling, I’m happy I could come here and show the world I’m improving. I’m keen to be a Mariner, to play my best and get into the team,” he said after the match.

Bolt’s strike partner, Ross McCormack – who also got on the scoresheet in the win – praised the Jamaican for his efforts.

“The best thing about Usain is he’s so humble. He’s fitted in well with the lads,” former Leeds and Fulham striker McCormack said.

“From my first day even to where he is now, the transformation is huge.”
