Former Nigeria and Everton FC striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni on Friday coached National Super League side Nakuru All Stars, this Sportinglife.ng can report.
The Nakuru All Stars are a Kenyan association football club based in Nakuru. They currently compete in the Kenyan National Super League, the second tier of the Kenyan football league system.
Nigeria football great turned Everton Football Ambassador conducted the training session during which he though them good ball control, sharp Turing techniques, pace and smart goal build up passes.
The 35 year old Ex-Nigerian international conducted the football training for hours at Nakuru Athletics Club.
According to a Kenya base web, after the training the prolific forward advised the Nakuru All Stars players who want to turn professional “to be dedicated and listen to their coaches.”
“Discipline is the ladder to professional football career,” he added.
Gor Mahia defensive midfielder Ernest Wendo was among the professional players in the training Aiyegbeni conducted for the club.
Yak has popularly called scored 21 goals in his 57 appearances for Nigeria since his 2000 debut. The former Everton striker is currently the third highest ever international goalscorer for Nigeria.
At the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Yakubu notably missed an open goal from three metres against South Korea in the last Group game but later went on to score a penalty.
The Yakubu’s penalty made sure that Nigeria earned a 2–2 draw, but this was not enough for the national team to progress out of the group stages.
Yakubu made his full international debut on 22 April 2000 in a 4–0 home win in Lagos against Eritrea in qualification for the 2002 African Cup of Nation; he announced his retirement from football on 22 November 2017.
He has since been a football Ambassador for English Premier League Side, Everton.
